Annual Scientific Meeting of the ECVO 2025

Welcome to the ECVO Conference 2025 in Edinburgh!

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ECVO), it is our great pleasure to invite you to the 2025 ECVO Conference, themed “Intraocular Surgery,” which will take place from May 22-25, 2025, in the stunning city of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Edinburgh, with its rich history and vibrant contemporary culture, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, where old-world charm meets modern sophistication. From its iconic architecture to the dynamic arts scene, Edinburgh promises to captivate all who visit its storied streets.

For the 2025 conference, we are excited to continue with the highly popular hybrid format from recent years. Whether you choose to attend in person or participate via live stream, all sessions will be recorded and accessible to attendees until the end of August 2025. This extended access offers added flexibility, allowing you to revisit and review the content at your convenience.

The conference will gather a diverse, international community of veterinary ophthalmologists, practicing veterinarians passionate about ophthalmology, and industry exhibitors to share cutting-edge discoveries, discuss the latest advances, and explore innovative products. We are deeply grateful to the exhibitors whose continued sponsorship makes this event possible year after year.

The Scientific Committee, led by Charlotte Dawson, has curated a dynamic program that promises to deliver high-quality content. Renowned experts, including Marta Leiva, Rob Lowe, Chris Dixon, Larry Benjamin (MD), Peter Wilson, and Charlotte Dawson, will share their knowledge, tips, and experiences with attendees. The sessions will include a mix of presentations, panel discussions, and engaging video content.

The Continuing Education Day will cover key topics such as complications in cataract surgery, sulcus IOLs, the latest in human cataract surgery, and vitreoretinal and glaucoma surgery.

On Friday and Saturday, the Scientific Program will feature a rich schedule of case reports, clinical presentations, and research findings from specialists around the world. We are honored to have Larry Benjamin, MD (UK), as our keynote speaker. His presentation, titled “Flying Eye Hospital,” will provide a fascinating look into a unique mobile surgical and teaching initiative.

The conference will conclude on Sunday with a Masterclass, focused on simulator training, managing complex cataracts, complications in glaucoma and vitreoretinal surgery, and the influence of bias in surgical outcomes.

We are delighted to host this conference at The Assembly Rooms, an 18th-century landmark in the heart of Edinburgh. Of course, no ECVO conference would be complete without our signature social events. These include a Welcome Reception on Thursday evening, followed by the highly anticipated Gala Dinner on Friday night at the Signet Library—one of Edinburgh’s most stunning Georgian buildings, known for its elegant atmosphere and award-winning catering.

We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh for an unforgettable conference experience filled with knowledge sharing, networking, and enjoyable social gatherings.
